Sonoma State Athletics. The Sonoma State University Department of Athletics sponsors 13 sports - 5 for men and 8 for women. SSU is a member of the NCAA Division II and competes in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), the premier D-II conference in the country with 145 national championships.

Over the last several years, Sonoma State athletic teams have had notable success including the 2002 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer National Championship and the 2003 CCAA Baseball Championship. The Women's Basketball team has made trips to the NCAA Tournament in four of the last seven years and the women's tennis team qualified for the NCAA's for the 9 th consecutive year. [Top]
